Today I Weep
“Today I weep
for a world of sadness
drowning in the madness;
Today I weep
for a life well lived
yet to be fulfilled;
Today I weep
for those who love
in silence and despair;
Today I weep
for lovers spurned
and passions lost;
Today I weep
for people vanquished
by ignorance and fear;
Today I weep
for lessons learned
borne on many failures;
Today I weep
for those that died
for causes not their own;
Today I weep
for feeling guilt at
my good fortune;
Today I weep
for men in power
lost in their own folly;
Today I weep
for those that died
without a will to live;
Today I weep
for those with faith
usurped by men in frocks;
Today I weep
for the unborn child,
the one I never met;
Today I weep
for Mother Nature
she never wanted this;”
