Queensland taxpayers have missed out on almost $400 million after the Queensland LNP government abandoned court action started by the previous Labor government. What’s the scam?
The scam is that Adani was selling coal to Indian buyers at $102 per tonne at a time when world prices were around $280 per tonne, drastically reducing royalties due to Queenslanders.
Rod Campbell, Research Director at The Australia Institute (TAI), told MWM, “Adani was almost giving coal away at mates rates right at the time when Queenslanders were struggling most with record energy prices in 2023.”
… the foreign-owned coal and gas companies like Adani are not just taking our resources, but they are really taking the piss.
Adani denies the claim, saying, “the analysis assumptions are wrong and rely on mismatched data, incorrect assumptions and back-of-a-napkin math”.
PwC and the Adani mine triple dip. A conflict of interest? Surely not
